Our new baby girl

Just wanted to write a quick post to announce that we have a new addition to our Thrifty family! Sophia was born on Saturday night – right on time – on her due date, at 10:20 pm, weighing in at a healthy 8 lbs., 14 ozs.

Mommy, daddy and her big sister are all doing well. It’s been quite the week so far. We spent the morning of, at a birthday party, where they rented a giant bouncy castle for all the kids. We brought our little one home for a nap, and by 4 pm, we had to drop our daughter off at her granny’s, while I drove mommy to the hospital. My wife was in labour for about 8 hours. Which is amazing, considering our first one took 23 1/2 hours.

It’s funny, all the things you forget or thought were important with your first one, are no longer as important. When really – all you need is love (and a bit of patience). The toughest part for me, as a father of two now, isn’t so much the lack of sleep (although I do admit after days of no rest, it’s wearing a bit on me). But the toughest part for me is finding time to give both of my little one’s undivided attention. If that’s possible. But it’s a great experience and I’m truly lucky to have two beautiful daughters now.

I will return again to my regular posts in the next week or so, once I’ve settled more or less into some sort of routine or form of normalcy. But for now, I’m just going to continue basking in the glow of new fatherhood for a while.

Cheers!
Anthony (Thrifty Dad)
